The OIC Concept
Help on OIC Value Streams

Value streams in Phase 1: Orient
Identify value streams

In this phase we analyse the value creation steps to identify which parts of the organization work together to provide value to the customer. We identify bottlenecks, dependencies and potential areas of conflict.
We use this information as an input for both overarching (enterprise wide) and local (within a unit or ART) organizational decisions.
The Value Stream Analysis Workshop is a key tool that we use here which can be applied at various levels in the organization.
Value streams in Phase 2: Implement
Organize around value

Portfolios and portfolio management is established to reflect the value creation streams
Teams or units are set up around the value creation streams
Collaboation needs are identified and mechanisms for collaborations are established (e.g. solution areas or agile release trains)
Value streams in Phase 3: Cultivate
Reorganize around value

Driven by rapid technology advance and fluid customer needs, an enterprise must be able to change its collaboration structures (which teams work with which other ones) as value streams change.
Build value stream focus into the DNA of the organization
Flexible collaboration structures become the norm
